Emerald on matrix

Item Description

A wonderful matrix specimen of featuring many rich green Emerald crystals on schist matrix from this area in northeast Brazil. There are crystals on both the front and back of the piece, and some of them are fairly gemmy when backlit. Most of the crystals have decent overall luster with fairly sharp faces and textbook hexagonal prismatic form. Several of the crystals are partially buried under the schist matrix, so you can't see the terminations, but when you have such a rich piece like this, you can forgive the fact that not all of the crystals are completely visible. Outside of Colombia, there aren't many localities where one can find good crystals of rich green Emerald on matrix like this. The largest crystal measures 2.0 cm long.
