Item Description

Matrix epidote specimens are very rare from the famous Eden Mills Quarry (VAG or Vermont Asbestos Group Mine). Lustrous, translucent, olive-green epidote prisms are to 4.5 cm are nicely scattered in the starkly contrasting glassy, colorless, diopside crystal matrix. It was collected in 2000. Classic and rare material. This fine combination specimen was in the Eden Mills case at the 2008 American Mineral Treasures Exhibition at Tucson. It is also illustrated in the May-June, 2008 issue of the Mineralogical Record on Page 213. Valued at $500.
