Item Description

PLEASE NOTE: This specimen is labeled only as coming from "Norway". It's difficult to say specifically where it was found, it could possibly be from the famous Arendal locality, but we're not Norwegian mineral experts. If anybody out there has an idea as to where this piece came from, please let us know. This small cabinet is mostly solid Epidote featuring a single, sharp, blocky, prismatic, dark green colored crystal measuring 4.1 cm long sitting on massive uncrystallized Epidote matrix with a bit of associated grey Smoky Quartz. The label mentions "pink feldspar", but I don't see anything that looks like Feldspar on the specimen. The main Epidote crystal is mostly complete, but there are a few contacts, so it's not totally pristine. It's still a showy and eye-catching piece of what is now fairly difficult material to obtain. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8936). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
