Item Description

This piece is a first for us as we've never seen an Epidote from Drum Valley before. There was no specific locality given, though it could be from the Consolidated Tungsten Mine (also called the Drum Valley Mine). A wonderful, sharp, lustrous, prismatic dark green Epidote crystal measuring 4.1 cm is set at the base of the massive slightly smoky Quartz matrix. The crystal has a fine termination, and is in good condition overall, though it does seem to have a separation mark where it was exposed from the Quartz. A few additional Epidotes are frozen into the Quartz on the back of the piece. A HARD TO FIND locality specimen for anybody who collects California minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4940). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
