Item Description

Despite the fact that this province is incredibly well-known for its pegmatite minerals (Tourmaline, Spodumene, etc.), these specimens are actually from a metamorphic skarn deposit. These are some of the lesser known Epidotes from this area, as most people associate Epidote with Pakistan. This piece hosts dozens of very sharp, lustrous, golden-green (more of a green hue in different lighting), gemmy, well-formed compressed crystals of Epidote associated with octahedral Magnetites. The largest Epidote measures 9 mm, and most of them are damage free. The largest Magnetite measures 7 mm across. Minor blue-green Diopside crystals and "rosettes" of blue-black Clinochlore ("Chlorite") can be seen as well. An attractive small cabinet specimen from this interesting occurence in Afghanistan.
