Erythrite (competitive quality TN)

Item Description

A balanced amount of matrix hosts a very nice spray of rich magenta Erythrite crystals on this lovely miniature from Bou Azzer. The divergent spray, that is front-and-center on this piece, is composed of a dominant deep magenta crystal to 1.5 cm with a few other, similar crystals in slightly divergent growth with another, smaller divergent stray of Erythrite angling off to the right. The crystals are sherp. lustrous and moderately translucent. The crystals are a rich magenta, well-formed and are truly captivating. The crystals are distinctly monoclinic in form and have a definite waxy luster to them. They are set on a just the right amount of matrix that is with whitish and gray in color. The white is interpreted as finely crystalline Calcite. Since Erythrite is such a soft mineral, specimens often have minor bruising associated with them, however, this piece has very little which makes it so attractive and so desirable. The brilliant luster and rich color are just outstanding. The balance, poise, and isolation together with matrix contrast elevates this to one of the finest thumbnail sized examples of the species we have seen.
