Item Description

Adorable and striking etched color-zoned fluorite from the famous Minerva No. 1 Mine of Illinois. The translucent golden-amber core is dramatically capped by gem color-zoned purple and blue fluorite embedded with rare, sharp, tiny chalcopyrite crystals. SW UV lighting reveals yellow to white fluorescing hydrocarbons in the fractures in the gem fluorite and a few blebs in the amber fluorite. The piece resembles the famous etched fluorite corners from the Elmwood Mine of Tennessee. Ex Chad Dalrymple collection of Ardmore, Oklahoma who passed away in 1995. We recently obtained a portion of his collection. Chad acquired this excellent and rare combination specimen from well-known Indiana/Ohio collector and dealer, Harris Precht in May, 1995.
