Item Description

An impressive, rare and rich two-sided combination small cabinet plate from the famous N'Chwaning II Mine. The front hosts a rich peppering of sharp, lustrous, translucent, yellow with white interiors ettringite/sturmanite crystals, to 8 mm. The back hosts much smaller ettringite crystals and both sides are richly covered with tiny reddish Henritermierite crystals, a RARE member of the Garnet Group. A few tiny black rare Gaudefroyite prisms are also noted. The superb 11.5 x 11.5 cm sheet with the piece explains the crystallogaphy with drawings, accessories and dates of finding of this exceptional rarity. Ex Francesco Bedogne Collection # 1312 and acquired in 1984. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector.
