Euchroite (rare) (ex J. N. Trainer Collection)

From the type locality for the species, this is a very good example of the rare Copper Arsenate Euchroite. This "Dana Locality" dates back hundreds of years, and has been a source of some of the msot classic eastern European minerals for generations. This piece features rich emerald green, EUHEDRAL, sharp, orthorhombic crystals of Euchroite on a gossan matrix. The most impressive aspect of this piece is that the Euchroite crystals are hardly altered, or dull, or pitted, but very smooth, with excellent consistency of color. These specimens are few and far between on the market, and the top pieces sell well into the thousands of dollars. A great colorful rarity from this renowned mining district in Slovakia. This piece comes from an old East Coast collection, originally in the collection of J. N. Trainer, and with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957.
