Euchroite (Type Locality)

Item Description

A fine reference specimen of euchroite from the type locality, both for the size and sharpness of the main crystals, to 1mm. There is one significant crystal cluster and several other smaller crystals and veinlets in the gossanous schist matrix. Euchroite is a rare hydrated copper arsenate and this piece is very nicely provenanced with the old label. From the type locality for the species, which dates back hundreds of years, this is a representative and colorful specimen from this renowned mining district. Old label from French dealer, Boubee, from the late 1800s!
