Euclase (1970s)

Item Description

An old classic Euclase from Conselheiro Pena, Brazil dating back to the early 1970s. This is a fairly thick / stout crystal with sharp, lustrous, well-formed smooth faces and good internal gemminess. A secondary Euclase can be seen flaring off the side of the piece for a nice touch. The crystal is essentially colorless, though a bit of iron adds a light golden color in places. The piece is in good shape, but not undamaged, as there is a contact on the upper corner of the termination. It's one of the larger and thicker Euclase crystals we've had to offer from this locality and a good representative example of this elusive material. Specimen weight is 19.49 grams.
From the personal collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar, the well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado (1946-2007). Rich was the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate mineral, Kosnarite. He traveled to Brazil often in the 1970s importing a large number of gem crystals and pegmatite species.
