Item Description

This species was sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite but has since been discredited. The piece features several superb, sharp, aesthetic, tabular, jet-black crystals forming a beautiful "flower"-like crystal group with a single gemmy prismatic Quartz crystal. There is some slight twinning that can be seen on the face of the largest crystal. The piece is great shape overall especially compared to the vast majority of specimens which are badly damaged. These Bolivian Ferberites are often underrated and stand up well against any other Ferberites from China or Panasqueira. This piece was from the famous find in 1999 at Tasna. This is an attractive and eye-catching display specimen of Ferberite from Bolivia. Valued at $500 retail.
