Item Description

The locality of Kara-Oba in Kazakhstan has produced some very attractive Ferberite specimens over the years. This piece is a very aesthetic small cabinet featuring sharp, thick, blocky, slightly striated crystals of Ferberite measuring up to 1.7 cm which are sitting on gemmy, sharp, lustrous Smoky Quartz crystal matrix. A couple of the larger Ferberites are actually twins, (on the a{100} face) which is not common from this locality. Please note that the most predominant twin on this specimen has been repaired. This is one of the finest and most eye-cathcing display specimen of Ferberite that we've seen from this lcoality. A great association piece and wonderful display specimen from this well known locality in central Kazakhstan. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10812). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
