Item Description

Fluellite is a rare hydrated phosphate. This active open pit phosphate mine is well-known for a wide variety of rare and unusual phosphates. Specimens of this size and richness are very uncommon from here. Scintillating, gemmy colorless, to oxide-tinted, orthorhombic microcrystals fill a 7.7 cm sculptural vug. Interconnected tiny radial sprays of white wavellite needles on the left side are a nice and uncommon accessory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10865 and acquired from the Cisneros' at the Tucson Show in 1986. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). A very rich and rare large example of this rare phosphate.
