Item Description

Here we have a very good matrix example of the seldom seen Fluorapatites from Wilberforce. This small cabinet hosts a few crystals in Calcite matrix, not the typical loose solitary prisms off matrix. The main crystal measures 1.4 cm long with a glowing yellow-green hue and is notably lustrous and gemmy with sharp hexagonal faces. A few smaller Apatites can be seen on the piece, but they are contacted and not as fine of quality as the main crystals. Great quality for the locality, and certainly old material from this well known calcium metamorphic deposit. No repairs and the main Apatite crystal is actually WATER CLEAR in areas which can best be seen with a bit of backlighting. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#13069). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
