Item Description

Beautiful and striking, bi-colored hexagonal fluorapatite crystals, to 1.5 cm and doubly terminated, with tiny contrasting glassy yellow lepidolites on the stark blocky quartz plate matrix form a very aesthetic and sculptural miniature combination from the Pederneira claim. The glassy apatites have very pretty, translucent, rich cornflower-blue bodies and contrasting gemmy teal-green terminations. Yellow apatite fluorescence. Fine older combination material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 12235. She purchased this piece from Brazilian dealer Luis Menezes at the Denver Show in 1990. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Very choice Pederneira apatite with fine color from this locality! With the Menezes source, the location is going to be valid and I believe him, even though it looks like some very old Golconda pieces.
