Item Description

A classic and excellent old-time fluorapatite specimen from this famous locale. The lustrous, sharp, terminated, textbook hexagonal crystal is a finely and distinctively layered mottled rust-brown and is strikingly accented with glassy, translucent gray-green areas. Complete all-around, this is a very fine 360-degree specimen. The noted termination edge wear has minimal impact to the overall high quality of this fine old-timer. The old faded A.E. Foote label on the bottom dates from 1877-1890. This locality is one of Ontario's most famous mineral localities and was internationally known in the nineteenth century (MINDAT). It produced a 700 pound fluorapatite crystal and a zircon 1 foot in diameter! Classic and excellent material. Specimens from here are rare and are highly desirable.
