Fluorapatite (rich color) on Albite

Paraíba is a term that most people probably associate with the electric colored Copper-bearing Tourmaline crystals and gems from this small Brazilian state. But there are many other minerals found in Paraíba, and we recently picked up a parcel of these blue Fluorapatite crystals from Campina Grande. This piece features small, lustrous, gemmy, strong blue colored crystals of Fluorapatite measuring up to 4 mm across sitting on a "flower"-like group of bladed Albite var: Cleavelandite, which might appear to be white in color, but it has a very faint blue overtone. The intensity of the color in the Fluorapatite crystals is significant, as smaller crystals like this are often very pale regardless of the color, so it's a big deal to see such a vivid blue hue in these crystals. A very attractive locality piece that would make a nice addition to any Brazilian collection, a phosphate suite, or a collection of worldwide Apatites.
