Item Description

The various pegmatites in Pakistan have produced some amazing specimens of Fluorapatite over the last few decades. A lot of these Apatites are pink in color, but they typically exhibit a softer pink hue. THIS specimen however is a real eye opener as it hosts a wonderful RICHLY colored prism of Fluorapatite that simply glows with a notably saturated red-pink color when backlit. The 2.5 cm crystal is actually doubly-terminated and is set beautifully atop a matrix of bladed white Albite (var: Cleavelandite) and is associated with a minor amount of "Lepidolite" Mica. Looking closely you can see there are small prismatic Tourmaline crystals sprinkled about. These Tourmalines show a bit of a "cat's eye" effect when rotated in the light, and a strange coloring featuring greenish-yellow, bluish, and almost white/colorless hues. Very good quality all around, and the intense color of the Apatite makes it all the more desirable. No major damage that I can see, and it's so showy and aesthetic. Priced at $2,250 in our inventory.
