Item Description

Shimmering intergrown clusters of unusually formed and colored fine large apatite crystals form a most sculptural plate from the famed mines at Panasqeira. The densely intergrown hexagonal crystals are translucent and have variable olive-green hues. The exotic plate looks like a bold Question Mark in one view or a wreath in another. Many of the crystals are doubly terminated and reach 2.3 cm. A few scattered gemmy quartz points, especially at one end are a nifty accent. Ex Kay Robertson Collection with no specimen number. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Rare style, artistic and striking apatite from Panasqueira.
