Item Description
A seldom-seen specimen of Fluorapatite (var: Carbonate-rich Fluorapatite) from the Geevor Mine in Cornwall. For a time this material was classified as a species known as "Francolite", but that is now an erroneous name. According to the entry on mindat, this locality was one of the last deep mines to close in Cornwall (1990s), and is now a tourist attractive. This small cabinet specimen features a coverage of lustrous, translucent, rich golden-brown, hexagonal crystals up to about 3 mm which cover the underlying matrix.
