Item Description

A fantastic multi-crystal group of "Alpine"-type Fluorapatite from this lesser known locality in Pakistan. Many highly lustrous, gemmy, thick, tabular, hexagonal crystals of colorless Fluorapatite measuring up to 4.4 cm across are included with dark forest green prismatic crystals of "Byssolite" (possibly Actinolite) free of matrix. The group is crystallized nearly all the way around, but it is contacted on the base, and there are a couple of contact on the back upper portion of the piece, but they are not visible when the piece is displayed. I've seen pieces from this locality featuring one or only a few crystals, but THIS piece undoubtedly has the most intergrown crystals that I've seen from the Surgat Mine. It's dramatically three-dimensional and displays beautifully as you can see from the photos. The piece truly reminds me of classic Austrian Alpine specimens, but I would make the argument that it's actually BETTER due to the fact that the crystals are so thick. If this were from the European Alps, it would carry a huge price tag as crystals of this size and quality are almost impossible to find. We had this piece priced at $3,000 in the inventory.
