Item Description

A patch of purple Fluorite on one side near the base of this equant small cabinet Fluorapatite crystal is an uncommon accessory, fine complement and contrast to this showy piece from the well-known, extinct Yates Mine of Quebec. The terminated, highly lustrous, textbook hexagonal crystal is partially translucent with typical variegated areas of green and mottled brown hues. Complete all-around. Part of one side and the termination are contacted, but can be minimized with the proper display view. The Yates Mine produced Phlogopite, Fluorite and uranium minerals, in addition to the outstanding Fluorapatite crystals. See the 1981 Mineralogical Record article on the locale in Vol. 12, No. 6. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 09290CL, a well-known New Jersey collector and has been a Board member and Vice President of the Franklin Mineral Museum.
