Fluorapatite with Muscovite

Fluorapatite from Pakistan is not something that normally lends itself to fine thumbnail specimens but this combination piece, with contrasts of the two species in shape and texture and clarity, makes for a really dramatic presentation! This is a sharp specimen with a cluster of fluorapatite crystals stretching just over 2 cm, perched as if floating in "blades" of muscovite, as if in midair. The whole piece is a floater, with exquisite formation and aesthetics! It is complete all around. It is hard to say how visually 3-D this is, and how unique it seems. Also, we note it has never been cleaned by a lab, and really is colored a little bit rusty brown by natural iron oxides from the mine. Overall, just a highly surprising thumbnail and another proof that some of the best specimens are combination pieces!
