Item Description

An ususually colored, impressive and sculptural mounded small cabinet cluster of large pseudo-cubic apophyllite crystals from small finds 10 to 15 years ago in Nashik. These were originally marketed as "marshy apophyllite". The unique umber-yellow inclusions were first thought to be Mozartite, a rare Ca-Mn silicate, but the mineral isn 't listed for the locality on MINDAT. The inclusions were later determined to be clays or chlorite. The red inclusions of iron oxides add even more color to this very unusual piece. The penetration twinned crystal form is surprising and the impressive large crystal is 4.5 cm on edge. The attachment on the back reveals the underlying green apophyllite. Essentially pristine in the display views, with only trivial rubbing. A fascinating, uncommon and excellent specimen with multiple display views.
