Item Description

This specimen is labeled as coming from "Durango, Mexico", but I can't find a listing of any Apophyllites found in that state. With that said, the piece is most likely from Guanajuato or Zacatecas. It features fine quality, sharp, lustrous, somewhat "pearly" crystals of Fluorapophyllite measuring up to 1.1 cm sitting on matrix. The crystals have a light pink hue, which is rare for any Apophyllite species, and look beautiful up close. A great oddball piece to add to a Mexican mineral suite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5103). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
