Fluorite

This wonderful, showy large cabinet Xianghualing Mine Fluorite, known for their green color and cubic crystals, doesn't disappoint. Many of these specimens appear pale or become washed out under lighting but not this specimen as it has a great color saturation. The specimen consists of intergrown crystals of glassy, translucent, light green Fluorite cubes on a silver metallic matrix. The cubes have wonderful stepped growth faces with modified edges. They are highlighted by their subtle zoning of a shadowed white inner core with up to a 1 cm thick on edge, "coke-bottle" green gemmy outer zone. The elevated main Fluorite cube is 5.8 x 5.1 cm. There are a few nicks on a couple of cube edges with minor periphery wear but overall the Fluorites are in very good condition. Fluorites from this locality were some of the first to come to the western market in the 1990s and this is typical of that time and place. This impressive specimen has the beautiful luster and color that defines Xianghualing Fluorites and would make a great addition to any collection. Ex. Paul Zerfass Collection #121. Valued $5000-plus.
