Item Description

Fluorite and barite combinations of this richness and quality are RARE from this well-known extinct fluorite mine. Parallel-growth clusters of lustrous, tan barite blades, to 5.0 cm, are richly and dramatically scattered on all sides of the 360-degree mounded matrix of fluorite cubes. The glassy, lustrous, transparent to translucent, bi-colored green and purple cubes, to 1.4 cm, are richly included with sparkly tiny pyrites. The cubes look purple in the photos, but actually have a lot of green. The boxwork fluorite vug on one side is noteworthy. Purple fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3119 and acquired in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A rare and impressive combination from the locale. Remarkable and seldom on the market in this quality. Valued at $950.
