Item Description

A RARE locality specimen from this lesser known mine in the Ore Mountains of Saxony. Gelbe Birke translates into the Yellow Bich Mine, which was mined for Silver dating back to the early 1700s! This piece features the iconic and very rarely seen crystals of soft green Fluorite with beautiful purple tips on the octahedral crystals. The bi-color effect is beautiful and if you collect worldwide Fluorites or German minerals, don't miss out on this one. The largest Fluorite measures 1.3 cm, and they are sitting on attractive Quartz crystals on matrix. No major damage, and very attractive in person. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8212). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
