Item Description

Here we have a fantastic gemmy "phantom" Fluorite from the famous Denton Mine. This small cabinet sized specimen features an excellent quality, large, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, bi-color (purple and golden) "phantom" cubic crystal of Fluorite with no matrix. The reverse side of the piece is actually crystallized, but shows attractive hydrothermal etching features. Excellent condition all around, very little damage. A fine representation of this now fast-disappearing material. From the collection of Brian Kosnar, who obtained it from the collection of Ross Lillie (# RCL1424), and his label states that has unusual zoning as one corner has a bit stronger purple color than others, which is an indication of the direction of growth. A truly fine quality display specimen from this important mine in Southern Illinois. A great piece to add to your collection, especially if you collect Fluorites, Southern Illinois specimens, or pieces with fine crystals. Valued at $1,500.
