Item Description

The Huanzala Mine in Peru is best know for its superb Pyrite specimens, but the Fluorites deserve an equal amount of attention for their quality, colors and diversity. I've seen a wide range of styles and colors of Fluorite from this mine, but this one is a bit more distinctive and desirable because it's a thumbnail. Here we have an attractive piece featuring a very sharp, rather lustrous, gemmy, bi-colored cube with defined purple and green hues, sitting on a bit of Pyrite. The purple and green hues intermix at a certain point in the crystal, creating a bit of a blue tone. Very minor roughness can be seen, but overall the piece is in very good shape. A really cool an unusual Fluorite for the locality.
From the collection of David E Ziga, a geologist who graduated Miami (of Ohio) University in 2017, with a mineralogy background.
