Item Description

An unusual and rare Fluorite specimen from Sinaloa, Mexico (according to the label). I can't find a listing for this material, but considering that Kay bought a piece of seemingly everything when it was available, this very well could have come from an isolated discovery that was never documented. With that said, the piece is interesting for a few reasons. First the color is alluring as it shows a beautiful lavender-pink hue, which is not common for Fluorite to begin with, but then you combine it with the rare botryoidal habit, and you have something that is seldom seen in Fluorite. When backlit, the piece glows with color, and for the most part it's damage free, save the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. This is a unique and interesting Fluorite that would make a great addition to a Fluorite suite or a collection of Mexican minerals. Valued at $800. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1937). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
