Item Description

A wonderful example of the famous Rogerley Fluorite specimens. This locality has produced some of the most iconic Fluorites from the English lead mines at Weardale in the modern era of mineral collecting. This piece is an attractive small cabinet display specimen featuring sharp, gemmy, interpenetrant twinned crystals (on a cube-diagonal twinning axis) - as often seen from this locality - with rich emerald green color. This penetrating cubic twinned form is what makes these specimens so desirable. The color is lovely on this one, showing a that classic green hue indoors, which changes into the classic purple shade in sunlight (daylight fluorescence) . The piece also shows the classic bright purple fluorescence under UV light, which is often seen in Rogerley Fluorites. Small crystals of Galena with a dark surface patina and some underlying Quartz make for a nice touch, which is not often seen in Rogerley Fluorites. The specimen is not 100% perfect, but it's still a good quality display specimen that looks nice in any kind of lighting. The largest single crystal measures 1.1 cm.
