Item Description

One of the true classics from northern England over the last 20 years has been the beautiful gem green Fluorites from the Rogerley Mine. This piece is a nice example of this beautiful material featuring sharp, GEM quality, well-formed, lustrous cubic crystals (some of which show penetration twinning) measuring up to 1.8 cm on edge sitting on ironstone matrix. There are a few imperfections here and there, but overall the piece is in pretty good shape. We have also photographed the piece in sunlight to show off the purple daytime fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8486). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
