Item Description

There aren't a lot of mineral associated with L. A. County, but the Fluorites from the Felix Mine might be the most well-known. This small cabinet specimen features a pair of gemmy, lustrous, sharp, beautiful green colored modified cubic crystal groups of Fluorite measuring up to 3.3 cm across on a thin layer of matrix. There is a combination of cube and dodecahedral faces on the Fluorites which have grown in an octahedral form. Very good quality overall, and the only real damage is on the right side where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. For the size, the color is rich, as most Fluorites are rather pale unless the crystals are several inches across. We had this one priced at $400 in the inventory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12546). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
