Item Description

A gorgeous showy cabinet sized display specimen of the hard to find Fluorites from Maxonchamp. The specimen is filled with sharp, well-formed, beautiful grey-blue (much more of a stark blue color in sunlight) cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.3 cm on edge which are partially coated by a thin druse of Quartz crystals. The piece is in good shape for the most part, but you can see where it's contacted around the edges after being removed from the pocket wall. This particular color is hard to find from Maxonchamp as most of the pieces I've seen in recent years have kind of "brown" hue to them. These Fluorites are rare on the market, and certainly worth picking up if you're a Fluorite collector or a fan of French minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3685). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
