Fluorite (ex Chet Lemanski Collection)

Item Description

An attractive full cabinet sized plate of sharp, lustrous, gemmy, well-formed, pale golden colored cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 1.1 cm associated Siderite, Quartz and Calcite crystals on the reverse side. Some minor Pyrite crystals can be seen as well. The piece is in excellent condition, with no major damage that I can see with the naked out, save the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Please Note: this specimen is only labeled as coming from "Cumberland, England", which isn't terribly specific, so if anybody out there has some insight as to a more specific locality for this piece, please feel free to reach out and let us know. Chet was born 1947 in started collecting minerals circa 1957. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999.
