Item Description

Beautiful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, zoned / "phantom" cubes of multicolored Fluorite measuring up to 5 mm sit atop Quartz matrix from the famous locality at Cenovec / Zinnwald. When backlit, the Fluorites show and interesting mix of purple and red hues, but when they're exposed to UV light, they actually show some cool square zoning patterns. Very attractive up close, though some of the Fluorites are contacted. A unique and interesting example of this historic, classic material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7678) and accompanied by an old hand-written label from an unknown collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
