Item Description

Most of the Fluorites I've seen from this locality are along the yellow to green end of the spectrum, but this one has an unusually dark purple hue! The crystals are strange in their coloring, as when they are backlit they show a slightly colorless hue around the corners, but with dark purple cores. The crystals are cubic in habit, but are intergrown, so individual cubes are hard to discern. The largest crystal measures 6 mm across. Very little damage, and a GREAT addition to a Fluorite suite, or specifically a suite of German Fluorites. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3126). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
