Item Description

This old mine sits in the northern part of the Gobi Desert, where nearly only Fluorite is found. A wide variety of colors of Fluorite are found here, typically in cubic form. This piece is a wonderful small cabinet display piece featuring sharp, very well-formed, lustrous, gemmy, fine green colored cubes of Fluorite measuring up to 5.0 cm on edge free of matrix. With backlighting, one can see small purple flashes floating inside the crystals. A very good example of this elusive and attractive material from one of the most remote mines in the world. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12337). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
