Item Description

A classic old-time gemmy cubic group of Fluorite from this famous locality in southern Illinois. The faces are smooth and glassy with good internal transparency and a soft blue color. It's in fairly good condition onf the front / top display side, but it's not complete on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. This locality is well known for amazing multi-color Fluorite specimens, though they are few and far between on the market these days. This area is completely closed down and will never produce these specimens again. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2972). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
