Item Description

This is not your typical Annaberg Fluorite specimen. Most of the pieces you'll see from this area either have a golden hue, or darker purple (nearly black in some cases) coloring. This piece has a distinctive and alluring rich chrome green color in the center, which grades into virtually colorless on the outer edges. This particular color is exceedingly rare from any locality in Annaberg in my experience and it looks beautiful when backlit in both sunlight and indoor lighting. There is somewhat of an "alien eye" effect that can be seen inside the Fluorite, as the directional "phantom" color zoning is somewhat similar to the famous "alien eye" Fluorites from Erongo, Namibia. The sharp, well-formed, gemmy stacked cubic crystal group measures 3.7 cm and is beautifully sitting atop grey-white prismatic Quartz crystals on minor matrix. A small amount of purple massive Fluorite can be seen on the reverse side of the piece, but the main Fluorite group shows no purple coloring whatsoever. A rare, and important, display-quality German classic. The piece comes with a free custom acrylic base for easy display. It's hard to put a price on pieces of this quality from older European localities, but this one is so beautiful, and I would value it somewhere around $4,000 retail.
