Item Description

The historic Naica Mine is not only home to the most exemplary Gypsum crystals in the world, but it produced superb examples of many species, including some truly iconic Fluorites. This miniature sized specimen features superb quality, very sharp, rather lustrous, soft green color, WATER CLEAR crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm associated with minor Quartz and Pyrite on the reverse side. The combination of the cubic faces, with the dodecahedral modifications on the edges, joined with the "stacked" growth of the crystals makes for a really attractive mix. The piece is in fine condition, no major damage on the front, and just a bit of peripheral roughness on the back / base where it was removed from the pocket. It's very attractive in person and would make a fine addition to any Fluorite suite or a collection of minerals from Naica. We had this piece valued in the inventory at $850 for the quality and the fact these gem crystals are not easy to find on the market these days. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
