Item Description

The historic Naica Mine is not only home to the most exemplary Gypsum crystals in the world, but it produced superb examples of many species including some truly iconic Fluorites. This toenail sized specimen features a superb quality, very sharp, rather lustrous, light purple color, WATER CLEAR - GEM "Spinel"-law twinned group with minor associated Calcite and Pyrite. The Fluorite itself is in fine condition with only a little contact on the back / base where it was removed from the pocket, but if you look closely you can see a combination of wonderful of sharp, smooth faces and graceful hydrothermal etching on the front and back of the piece.  This piece was from a very limited find in the 1980s, and stands out as one of the better examples I've seen in this size range.  It was a bit difficult to photograph, but it's very attractive in person and would make a fine addition to any Fluorite suite or a collection of minerals from Naica. We had this piece valued in the inventory at $1,400 for the quality and the fact these gem "Spinel" twins are not easy to find on the market these days.
