Fluorite (GEMMY bi-color ''phantom'' crystal) on Sphalerite

Even though the prodigious Elmwood Mine in Tennessee is only known for producing a handful of mineral species, they are some of the most singular and easily recognizable specimens from any locality out there. The Fluorites from this mine are beloved by collectors for their impressive color, quality and size. Here we have a really attractive display piece featuring a prominent cube of sharp, lustrous, gemmy, medium purple colored Fluorite measuring 3.2 cm on edge along with a few smaller accenting Fluorites which are beautifully sitting atop reddish-brown "ruby jack" Sphalerite crystal matrix. When backlit, the main Fluorite shows excellent internal "phantom" color zoning, and you can see the exterior edges actually transition into a lovely soft yellow hue. The main Fluorite is in excellent condition, with no damage I can see with the naked eye, and the Sphalerites are actually a bit gemmy when strongly backlit. I can see a few tiny golden metallic Pyrite/Marcasite crystals on the Fluorite for a nice touch. A beautiful specimen with such elegant crystal positioning and fine quality all around.
