Item Description

One of the most prolific mineral localities in Mexico is the prodigious Naica Mine, which is not only home to the most exemplary Gypsum crystals ever discovered (the famous "Cave of Swords") but it has produced superb examples of many other mineral species, including some truly iconic Fluorites. Here we have a wonderful small cabinet sized specimen featuring a 6.0 cm group of fine quality, sharp, very gemmy crystals of Fluorite which are associated with minor beige Calcite plus black Sphalerite, grey Galena, and golden Pyrite matrix. The Fluorite crystals show a combination of octahedral, dodecahedron and cube faces, and you can see hundreds of modifying faces all over. The crystals might appear colorless, but they are actually a beautiful pastel mint green hue. Very good quality, no major damage to the main Fluorite group. This one was difficult to photograph, but it's very attractive in person and would make a fine addition to any Fluorite suite or a collection of minerals from Naica. We had this piece valued in the inventory at $1,400 for the quality and the fact these gem crystals are not easy to find on the market these days.
