Fluorite (hard to find locality)

Collectors in Colorado are familiar with the Fluorites from Unaweep Canyon in the western edge of the state, but most other collectors probably aren't too familiar with them. The best specimens are honestly some of the most attractive Fluorites from Colorado with distinctive eye-catching crystal form and vibrant colors. This piece is a good reference specimen of this classic material featuring a layer of sharp, gemmy crystals Fluorite with an intense green color. Under magnification, you can see there are some highly modified faces on the corners of the crystals - possibly tetrahexahedron(?). No major damage that I can see with the naked eye. Worth picking up if you collect Fluorites, Colorado minerals or specimens from the United States. From the collection of Chester ("Chet") S. Lemanski Jr. of Browns Mills, New Jersey (https://www.mindat.org/user-461.html). Collection #0561CL. Chet was born 1947 in started collecting minerals circa 1957. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999.
