Item Description

A very rarely seen inclusion specimen featuring a robust group of gemmy pink Fluorite crystals which are filled with acicular "needles" of greenish-brown to black colored Tourmaline. While neither of these mineral are considered rare, the combination of Tourmaline inside of Fluorite (especially the highly desirable pink shade of Fluorite) is incredibly hard to find not only from Pakistan, but nearly anywhere else in the world. I love the fact that there are several things going on with this specimen which all come together to make something special. First off, this not a "chunk" of Fluorite, it's an impressively well-formed, beautifully crystallized group that is actually complete on ALL SIDES with no damage of note that I can find with the naked eye. As a matter of fact, I can go so far as to say that the piece is a "floater" as it doesn't have an actual point of contact / attachment anywhere. Essentially the back of the piece detached from the pocket wall long ago before it finished crystallizing, but it's completely healed ("re-healed"), so there is no contact or damage to be seen. The top, bottom and sides of the piece feature wonderful crystal faces, with the top portion showing excellent combinations of octahedral, dodecahedral and cubic faces. The upper portion of the specimen is virtually water-clear in areas and then it grades into an area of translucency where the Tourmaline crystals can be seen, and ends at the base with an opaque black densely packed group of thin Tourmaline prisms. Small "rosettes" of silvery-beige Muscovite create a wonderful break of color and highlights that really make the specimen feel "complete". I can honestly say I can't remember seeing another Fluorite specimen quite like this from Pakistan, and it stands out as an important, unique and attractive display piece from Chumar Bakhoor, one of the most well-known gem pegmatite localities in that country. Specimen weight is 610 grams. I value this one at $6,000 for the fact that it's a colorful, one-of-a-kind, robust cabinet sized display specimen with no damage.
