Item Description

The Sweet Home mine is famous for its Rhodochrosite specimens, but it has produced some VERY nice Fluorites as well. For those who don't know, Richard Kosnar mined the Sweet Home for a few years during the late 1970's and managed to collect some excellent Rhodo specimens. The piece features a few royal purple color, sharp, cubic crystals of Fluorite on Quartz and sulfide matrix. Several of the crystals of Fluorite are contacted, but it's still a worthwhile reference specimen and would make a decent addition to any Colorado suite, a Fluorite collection or a suite of unusual Fluorites. Virtually all specimens - not just the Rhodos and Fluorites - from this mine are quickly disappearing from the market. This piece is from one of the early pockets that Rich Kosnar opened when he started mining in 1977, and stood out of as one of the most interesting and unique Fluorites we've seen from this world famous locality.
