Item Description

These Grant County Fluorites are really hard to find on the market these days. This piece is from the lesser known Judith Lynn Mine and features sharp, well-formed, translucent, octahedra of Fluorite measuring up to 2.6 cm on edge. The Fluorites have a somewhat textured or "blistered" appearance on the surface. My favorite aspect of the piece is that you can see lovely color zoning as they are vritually colorless on the exterior and transition into a deep reddish-puple color with more of a pinkish-purple color towards the cetner of the crystals which are sitting on a layer of green Fluorite and matrix at the base. Very cool material for any Fluorite collector or a fan of minerals of the American southwest. Yes, there is some damage around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall, but it's still in excellent shape, and looks great when backlit. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
